1. Register on the Ministry of the Environment’s microchip registration website.
2. Required information:
- Dog’s microchip number
- Owner’s name, address, phone number, and email address
- Registration fee of 400 yen (payable by credit card)
3. This information is usually shared with your local municipality, so registration at the local government office is not necessary (exceptions may apply in some municipalities).
2. Rabies Vaccination
1. Get the rabies vaccination annually.
2. After the vaccination, bring the certificate to your local municipal office to obtain a registration badge.
3. The fee for this is 550 yen.
